This coffee was cultivated by Birtukan, a 37-year-old single female farmer, on a 2.5-hectare family plot situated in the renowned Yirgacheffe area of Ethiopia’s esteemed Gedeo Zone.The coffee on her farm is interplanted with a fruit called Enset, a relative of the Banana. Birtukan works with a newly formed exporting network called Ephtah Specialty Coffee founded and led by women bringing years of experience to the industry.
