This coffee is sourced from family-owned farms located in the Kintamani highlands on the island of Bali, Indonesia. The coffee is shade grown in the volcanic soils of Mount Agung alongside citrus trees that provide shade as well as an additional income for the farmers. Subak Abian refers to the ecologically sustainable irrigation systems developed more than 1,000 years ago by Hindu priests who practice Tri Hita Karana (three sources of prosperity), which is a philosophy focused on the harmony between the environment, humans, and God.
A very unique flavor profile that I find flavorful and interesting. It may not be for everyone, as Cre likes to say - ”this is a coffee not for beginners”. If you like pourovers and live life on the edge, this may be just be the coffee for you! It has a similar profile to last years Pau Pau New Guniea.
